Travel has been affected by Covid-19 in ways none of us saw coming. Marathon travel came to a standstill and many marathons have been (and continue to be) cancelled. As restrictions ease around the world and borders re-open, we must adapt our trips to take into account the various protocols for flights, hotels, restaurants and also marathon participation.
The health and wellbeing of our guests is the utmost importance to us and something we take seriously. As is our duty of care to our travellers to ensure their safety. All travellers on our accompanied tours will therefore be required to be vaccinated. This may include a third dose of vaccine.
We are fully vaccinated and 100% prepared to show you ours when you have to show us yours.
Our accompanied trips include travel to a number of countries and we encourage you to be up to date with the travel and health guidelines of the country(ies) you will be visiting.
For our Fully Independent Travel (FIT) bookings and other unaccompanied tours, you must check and abide by the rules of the country you are travelling to. This is your responsibility and we encourage you to check all the details before planning your trip.
Covid-19 policies remain in place until further notice. We are operating in a dynamic environment and policies will continue to evolve and change. We will make updates as required and monitor relevant changes.
The major marathons all have Covid-19 policies. We will advise you of these policies before your trip. Many marathons have implemented policies including but not limited to:
• Vaccination proof
• Face Coverings
• Density reduction in race venues and on the day
• Sanitising stations
• Baggage check at the expo (rather than on race day)
These policies may exist for an extended period.
The rules surrounding vaccination and where we can fly are fluid and will continue to change. You can find helpful information here. Many airlines have helpful online tools as well.
RunFun Travel is an affiliated partner with CoverMore and they have Covid-19 inclusions. Please contact us for a quote and a copy of their PDS.
When planning your trip always check Smart Traveller for current destination information. Think carefully about any travel where a “do not travel” advice is current and be aware that travelling against this advice could impact your travel insurance.
If you are feeling ill or have any Covid-19 symptoms, get tested for your peace of mind and that of others.
When we travel we pass through a myriad of places and, as such, let’s make sure we look after ourselves and take care of our personal hygiene. Include on your packing list: hand sanitiser, anti-bacterial wipes, tissues, your own water bottle. Sharing is caring but sharing germs is not…. take your own kit and don’t use others supplies.
So important when travelling in groups. Maintain a safe distance of 1.5m from people and do resist the urge to hug or have close contact. Be aware of indoor spaces, such as hotel lobbies, and be patient.
Airlines and airports will have their own protocols in place. At the airport you may encounter policies such as passengers only being permitted to enter the airport, disinfection tunnels, thermal scanners, touchless check ins, security screenings, boarding restrictions. We recommend you familiarise yourself with airline and government requirements. Such information is subject to change without notice and, as such, you need to check policies at the time of booking, as your travel date approaches and immediately before travel.
Airlines may have policies around distancing, mask wearing and reduced service. Please be patient and courteous to staff who are, after all, just doing their job.
