Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon has now been elevated to Abbott World Marathon Majors status and will be in high demand for 2027. The opportunity to run the inaugural WMM event will not come aroung again so don't missout. Join us in Cape Town and celebrate this historic moment in marathon history. 

Running the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is unique way to experience the gorgeous highlights and the vibrant spirit of one of Africa’s most visited and most celebrated cities.  It is an ideal race both for athletes who aim to achieve fast times, and for first timers who want to finish their inaugural marathon.  
Packages are not available to runners from South Africa.

Marathon Start/Finish

The start for all Cape Town Marathon events is Fritz Sonnenberg Road, next to the DHL Stadium, and the Finish is in the same area on Vlei Road.

Hydration Stations

There are 13 Hydration stations on the marathon course, approximately 3km apart. They will all have water, coke, Coke Light and Powerade available.
 Hydration packs are permitted.

Old Bank Hotel 4*

Offer extra space and comfort, making them perfect for any traveller. At roughly 30 m², each room features a king-size bed, a cosy seating area and a writing desk. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and offer great city views. This room is a flexible choice for those travelling with little ones.
